About BarbaraBarbara B. Kaplan is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW). She has worked in the field for over thirty years serving the Greater New Bedford Community. She graduated from Queens College of the City University of New York with a B.A. in Speech Pathology and Audiology and a minor in Psychology. She then received a Master’s in Counseling from Bridgewater State College. Her Master’s in Social Work is from Boston University. She has worked in a variety of mental health settings including inpatient and outpatient mental health facilities, as well as working at the New Bedford Women’s Center and New Bedford High School. She has taught at Bridgewater State University in the Social Work Program.
The focus of her clinical practice is to provide individual, couples and family treatment. She is trained to provide cognitive behavioral treatment with an emphasis on diagnoses that include affective disorders, depression, ADHD/ODD/CD, and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. She uses resiliency and strength based learning to encourage clients to be active participants in their treatment. Prior to joining the Olivier Group PC, she was a sole practitioner in the New Bedford/Dartmouth area. |
